Our main project for this year is to develop the spring and make the water safe for the local population.

The photograph above shows the main source of drinking water for a large number of the population of Addis Alem and the surrounding area. Click here to see a video.

The water is not clean and over the course of the day runs dry. This means that people, usually women and children, must reach the well very early in the morning to ensure that they can find water.

We aim to build a concrete storage tank and cap the source of the spring. This will mean that the water will remain clean and nothing will be lost.

Many similar projects have been carried out successfully all over Ethiopia and the cost is minimal considering how many people will be helped. We estimate that over 100 households use this spring, which could be as many as 500 or more people receiving clean water!
