Our first project was the construction of a hand-dug well for the junior school in Addis Alem.
There was no source of water in the school and the children had to either bring water with them, or go without.
The well was dug by hand and is over 20 metres deep. The water was tested and found to be clean and safe to drink. As well as the children and staff having access to water, the school have even planted some crops which they can water in order to sell and raise money.
Our latest project is to develop a natural spring.
At the moment the water collects in a dirty pool from which people walk several kilometres to collect the dirty water. As firewood is precious many can't afford to boil it before drinking and become sick.
We are still raising money for this project and hope to start work after the rainy season later this year. If you would like to find out more please click here.
