20.03.08 - The Bradgate raffle draw took place and a fantastic total of £181.10 in tickets were sold. A big thank you to Lisa Hamblin for making the lovely quilt and to all who bought tickets.

18.01.08 - For-ethiopia is dipping its toes into the various 'Social Networking' sites to increase awareness and hopefully boost our profile. Take a look at our Facebook and YouTube sites. If you are a member, please add us and tell your friends.
08.01.08 - As well as our Amazon shop, we have created a Buy.At store which links loads of online retailers and allows you to search for whatever you want to buy. We then receive commission from the relevant store. Incidentally we do not personally endorse any of these companies so please check the prices and reliability before purchasing.

01.12.07 - With Christmas not yet here, now is probably not the time to mention that you can celebrate a 'second' one! Ethiopian Christmas falls on the 7th January. For-ethiopia is celebrating this with a free Ethiopian Christmas Party on Saturday the 5th January at Woodlands Church. Details can be found here.

03.01.07 - A new coffee shop called 'Kuvuka' will be opening on Saturday 13th January at 113 Stokes Croft, Bristol. Run by Sean Clarke, the aim is to raise awareness of issues in Africa and provide a place where people can meet, chat and drink great coffee. Art from various artists will also be on display.
29.11.06 - The 'Concert for Ethiopia' organised by the Bradgate/Addis Alem Link was a great success! A big thank you to all who attended and especially to Christopher Northam and all the performers! The evening raised almost £900.
25.11.06 - Unfortunately due to printing problems we have been unable to produce Christmas Cards this year. However the designs created by Jacqueline Conradie-Faul will be on sale next year. Sorry to anyone who was waiting to buy them!
22.11.06 - Dudley Thomas kindly attended Bristol Grammar School to accept the first donation of £3200, raised by the students. The school's charity committee have asked that the money go towards developing a spring and installing a pump at Efa Beri Junior School.
14.11.06 - We have just received 2 Glowstar solar lanterns courtesy of Sollatek. These will be sent out to the clinics in the rural areas where no electricity is available. Many thanks Sollatek!
14.11.06 - An interesting film about coffee and its relationship to the Ethiopian economy was show in Bristol last week. Black Gold tells the story of one Ethiopian travelling the world to try and find buyers willing to pay a fair price for coffee.

Hannah Steadman (aged 9) saw our display at Bradgate surgery and took action. She arranged a cake sale at her school, RedMaids and raised £38.81. On the school's note paper is the heading "Every day there is something going on, and because The Red Maids' Junior School is quite small, we're always involved in everything". Thank you, Hannah, for getting involved with Addis Alem! (Dr Sue Thomas).

14.07.06 - SOLD OUT! - All tickets for Taste for Ethiopia 2006 have now sold out. Thank you to everyone who has bought a ticket. Due to limitations on the room size and catering, anyone without a ticket will have to be turned away. This is also for safety reasons.

23.03.06 - Tigist and Janet attended a meeting at the Bradgate Surgery organised by Dr Sue Thomas today. As well as very positive feedback from staff and patients, £172.82 was collected and the surgery are keen to fundraise for health related projects!

Both spring projects have now been completed successfully and the handover to the community was made on the 19th of February. Well done to all who helped. We did it!! More details and photos coming soon.
Also, the 10 computers were cleared free of tax on Monday and they are currently being checked over and will reach the Addis Alem schools on Saturday.
23.02.06 - Mark successfully completed the Tough Ten in 1 hr 37 minutes (4 minutes faster than his previous time) and has raised the fantastic sum of around £250 !!! Well done Mark!
31.01.06 - The man from Atlantis has visited!!!! The computers have left the dining room and are on the start of their 3700 mile journey to Addis Alem (via Birmingham). They should hopefully be arriving in Addis Ababa in 10-12 days.
30.01.06 - Mark Bentley will be running the 'Tough Ten Challenges' on Sunday 12th February. This is a multi-terrain 10 mile run in Weston-super-Mare. He has kindly agreed to raise sponsorship for us towards our projects. If you would like to sponsor Mark, you can either speak to him directly or go to the GiveNow page and donate by debit/credit card. Please type 'Mark' in the Donor Instructions section.
28.01.06 - The 10 computers are due to be collected on Tuesday and will then be shipped to Ethiopia to finally reach the schools in Addis Alem. These computers will help the senior school to be able to teach the full curriculum which will enable some students to be able to go on to university.

15.01.06 - An interesting and useful link I found is www.thehungersite.com apparently if you click on the link in the centre of the page, their sponsors will give money which then gets passed on to charity. Click and you will be helping to give 1.1 cups of staple food.
09.01.06 - Thank You to everyone who attended the Christmas Party / AGM. It was a great evening and a big thank you must go out to Mike Heath for his talk as well as those who helped set up (you know who you are!). We collected £88.67 of donations, which was great, especially as this wasn't intended to be a fundraising event. Many thanks to all!
