Final update for 2011

We hope that you had a great Christmas and are looking forward to 2012...

For-ethiopia had a busy year during which we completed the drilling of six wells, installed a solar refrigerator in a clinic, constructed a toilet block, equipped five schools, carried out training in hygiene and set up an award scheme to help keep girls in education.

We couldn't have done this without your help and we hope that you take a look at what you have helped to achieve. You can read about some of these projects below.

On January the 7th you have another chance to celebrate with Ethiopian Christmas for which we are having a party with Dr Alice Roberts. We hope that you can attend...

Girls' Access to Secondary Education

For-ethiopia has established a prototype dormitory for girls in rented property near the High School in Addis Alem. Scholarships have been awarded to 20 suitable girls from outlying villages to enable them to progress to secondary education.

Keeping cool at Beso health clinic

With the help of Solarsense, we have installed a solar powered refrigerator in the clinic at Beso. Now vaccines can be kept cool and immunisation programmes can be more effective.

Three more sites are planned to receive solar refrigerators in 2012.

If you would like to get involved with the work of For-ethiopia please do get in touch. We are always looking for volunteers to help out at fundraising events and if you have any specific skills that you feel you could offer then email us with your details and how much time you could spare. If anyone is a WordPress wizard and can spend a few hours tweaking our site then you would be very welcome!

We hope we will see you at the Christmas Party and wish to thank you for all your support throughout the year. Without our supporters we could not have carried out the projects which have so far benefitted over 50,000 individuals in the Addis Alem region of Ethiopia.

Please keep looking at the website to keep up to date with what is going on and please pass this email on to anyone else you think may be interested in our work or events.

May we be among the first to wish you Happy New Year!

The Trustees.
